About us

Tattoos have surged into mainstream popularity in recent decades, and cosmetic tattoos aren’t far behind. Being a licensed tattoo artist specializing in cosmetic tattoos, Anastasia Huff constantly had to consult dozens of women who wanted to cover up/fix permanent makeup that was done elsewhere. Sadly, not all cases could be taken in without prior removal or lightning sessions. Clients were referred to Nashville’s reputable clinics, but the drive, cost, and time were always issues. Now, BEAUTY LAB brings this service to Clarksville and the surrounding areas working within the most advanced protocols and techniques. Using laser tattoo removal technology, we can now lighten or even completely remove almost any permanent makeup and traditional tattoos.
All laser tattoo removal procedures are performed using a state-of-the-art, FDA-cleared, Q-Switch Nd YAG laser or a Non-laser Saline method by a knowledgeable and certified laser practitioner.

Contraindications & Precautions

Tattoo removal with the Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser is generally suitable for most people; it’s very rare that we can’t treat someone. However, like all laser treatments there are contraindications and precautions that need to be considered for your own safety.

Below are all the contraindications and precautions that are taken into consideration for laser tattoo removal treatment.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to light in the near infrared wavelength region.
Taking medication which is known to increase sensitivity to sunlight.
    Seizure disorders triggered by light.
    Have type 1 diabetes.
Take or have taken oral isotretinoin within the last 30 days.
Have an active localised or systemic infection, or an open wound in area being treated.

We can treat clients with type 2 diabetes whose condition is well managed. In some cases we may need a doctors note.
Anticoagulants may cause excessive bleeding and interfere with post-treatment healing.
Medications that alter the wound-healing response may interfere with post-treatment healing and may require special precautions to be taken by the treating therapist.
If patient is known to have a history of healing problems or a history of keloid formation.
If patient has a history of skin cancer or suspicious lesions.
Chemical depilation or mechanical depilation within the last six weeks may interfere with the post-treatment healing process.

FAQ

  • How are tattoos removed?

Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is used to target the pigment in tattoo ink that resides below the skins surface and fragment it into small pieces. Your body’s immune system will then absorb, break down and dispose of the ink. Topical tattoo removal creams sold over the counter are extremely ineffective at removing tattoos. No clinical study to date has shown that they actually work.

  • Can individuals with a darker skin tone undergo tattoo removal?

When it comes to laser tattoo removal, there are certain risks and side effects that individuals with darker skin tones should be aware of. While laser tattoo removal is generally considered safe, clients with melanin-rich skin may experience certain complications due to the way the laser interacts with the skin and tattoo pigment.
One common side effect that can occur in individuals with dark skin is hyperpigmentation. This condition is characterized by the darkening of the skin around the treated area, and is caused by the laser energy being absorbed by both the tattoo ink and the melanin in the skin. Individuals with darker skin, melanin-rich skin, or skin of color are more susceptible to this condition due to their higher levels of skin pigment.
Another possible side effect is hypopigmentation, which is characterized by the lightening of skin around the treated area. This occurs when the laser energy damages the melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin. As with hyperpigmentation, individuals with darker skin or skin of color are at a higher risk of experiencing this condition.
Keloid scarring is another potential complication of laser tattoo removal in individuals with darker skin. This occurs when the body produces too much collagen during the healing process, resulting in raised, thick scars. Keloids are more likely to occur in individuals with darker skin due to their increased levels of melanin.
In addition to these potential side effects, individuals with darker skin may experience blistering, scabbing, and crusting after laser tattoo removal. These symptoms are usually temporary and can be managed with proper aftercare, but can be uncomfortable and may require additional treatment.
Overall, while laser tattoo removal is generally safe for individuals with darker skin, it is important to be aware of the potential risks and side effects. Individuals with melanin-rich skin should consult with a qualified professional before undergoing any tattoo removal procedure to ensure that they understand the risks involved and can make an informed decision.

  • Will laser tattoo removal cause hair loss?

There are no indications that laser tattoo removal with Nd YAG will cause permanent hair loss. However, some hair lightening or hair loss at the treatment site can occur, but will typically grow back within the normal healing time.

  • How much will laser tattoo removal cost?

    Please refer to this page

  • I just got tattooed, but don’t want it anymore, when can I start removal?

At a minimum, 3 months is required before we will start treatment. During this time, please follow any and all aftercare provided by your tattoo artist to ensure proper healing of your fresh tattoo.

  • Is laser tattoo removal painful?

Each person perceives pain differently, so there is no definitive answer. There will be some discomfort that is often associated with a hot rubber band being snapped on the skin.

  • How many treatments are needed?

The age, location and quality of the tattoo and colors used, combined with your body’s ability to dispose of the ink will determine the total number of treatments needed. For complete tattoo removal, an average of 10-12 laser tattoo removal treatments will be needed, however every person and tattoo is unique and some might require more while others require less. For tattoos that will be covered up, an average of 2-5 laser tattoo removal treatments will be needed, depending on the size and pigment density of your current piece, the desired cover-up tattoo and how comfortable your artist is doing the new tattoo. We will work with you and your tattoo artist to determine how many tattoo removal treatments will be needed. Homemade tattoos often require as little as 4 laser tattoo removal treatments to completely remove, however each tattoo on each person is unique and there will be some variance.

  • How long do I have to wait between treatments?

Each tattoo is unique and every one requires special considerations which will be covered during the initial consult. As a general guideline treatments will be scheduled 6-10 weeks apart initially. Depending on factors such as pigment saturation, skin type and tattoos that are cover-ups (one tattoo over another), treatments could be 12-24+ weeks apart.

  • Will my tattoo be completely removed?

In most cases 90-95% pigment eradication can be reached, meaning most people wouldn’t know you ever had a tattoo. There are no FDA regulations on tattoo ink and several hundred different colors, manufactures and formulas so each tattoo fades at a different rate. Some colors may require more treatments to remove. There is also a possibility that a small amount of pigment may remain in the skin, typically we call this ghosting and for most clients, this is acceptable to be considered a removed tattoo.

  • What if I only want to lighten my tattoo / get it covered?

Choosing to have your tattoo lightened prior to a cover up will result in a much better quality final tattoo, and is often suggested by tattoo artists. We can stop treatments when your tattoo artists is happy with the results and confident they can give you the tattoo you desire.

  • Will there be any scarring?

The chances of scarring are very low, however it is possible if the aftercare instructions are not followed. There is a slight possibility of hyper-pigmentation or hypo-pigmentation, which will be covered during your initial consultation. Preexisting scars present prior to the laser tattoo removal will still be there after treatments, only the inks will be targeted and effected.

  • Can I have only part of my tattoo removed?

Yes. Often times there is a portion of a tattoo that you would like removed and / or covered, and we can target just those portions of your tattoo.

  • How long do tattoo removal treatments take?

For most tattoos, between 30 seconds and a few minutes. Office visits are booked for 30 mins to 1 hour to allow for enough time to do an initial consultation, complete a treatment and thoroughly cover aftercare.

  • Will I see changes after each treatment?

Because of the inconsistency in tattoo ink and each client being different, you may not see a change after each session, although most clients will see immediate change after the very first treatment. It is not uncommon for the tattoo to become darker and more bold within the first 72 hours of treatment, then to start showing signs of fading 14-21 days later. We photograph and record each tattoo prior to treatment so we can plot progress for you.

  • What’s involved with aftercare?

Complete aftercare will be given at the time of removal, including a take home care sheet.

  • Do you offer financing?

Yes (Care Credit), and we also accept all major credit cards.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

To cancel or reschedule an appointment we require a minimum of 24-hours notice or a fee may be imposed per our cancellation policy. Exceptions are made for sickness, family emergencies and transportation issues (car has a flat tire on the way to appointment, an accident shuts down the highway, alien abduction when you stepped out your front door, etc.).
